Unsure what to do when?

Not sure what approvals you need?
I see many people trying to "go it alone" online every day, and that's also where I see the many mistakes that are being made. Avoidable mistakes that end up costing - they cost time & money and bring lots of stress.
Mistakes such as -
Thinking their project doesn't need planning permission.
This one comes up repeatedly!
Have you ever been told by a builder that your extension doesn't need planning permission, when in fact, it does?
Don't leave it to chance as you could risk having to take down what you build if you can't obtain permission for it.
We'll help you get clear on what you need to obtain permission for, and what permission(s) you need before you get too far along and waste time and money.
Not submitting the correct information with planning applications.
Each application has its own set of circumstances meaning there are a multitude of documents which may be required to support any given planning application.
If you submit yours without the correct documentation your applictaion will be delayed.
Avoid these delays by getting guidance on what you need for your specific project.
Using inappropriate materials for the construction of their home.
Not many people outside of the construction industry, and even many in it, don't have a thorough understanding of how older buildings work.
Buildings such as oak framed houses, or solid walled houses, need to be treated differently to modern cavity wall or modern timber framed buildings.
Using modern materials on older properties means you risk causing more issues than you solve, especially relating to problems with moisture, damp and rot.
Our architect has many years experience of working with historic buildings and can advise on appropriate methods of upgrading these types of houses.
Don't build in issues for down the line!
Let us help you get it right first time.
Avoid these mistakes by getting your own plan of action, tailored to your specific needs, from our architect

The D.R.E.A.M UK Home Extension Support Hour
is your low cost support hour - a 1 hour Zoom consultation with our architect to discuss where you’re at with your project, deal with what’s keeping you stuck, work through any design issues & discuss what to do to move your project forward; including what approvals you need, who you need to employ and when, what documents and drawings you need to submit to the local authority, followed up with an email with a personalised action plan for you to implement.

An architect's input our architect (Charlotte Knott) will talk through your project with you to define what route you need to take regarding planning approvals, what drawings and documents you need to submit for your specific project, and work through your designs with you to ensure you make the most of your home and advise you of any changes you might need to make to comply with building regulations etc.

A personalised action plan Charlotte will provide you with a personalised action plan stating all the drawings and documents you need for your specific project and who you need to employ and when to ensure you have all the necessary information to allow your application to progress without unnecessary delay.

A safe space to ask your questions Just like my free Facebook group (UK Home Extension Community) the hour long consultation will be a safe space to ask your questions. No question will be considered a silly question. All questions are welcomed and will be answered with respect. So if there's anything at all that you'd like to ask, this is the perfect opportunity for you to do so.

Access to all this at a fraction of the costs of hiring an architect on a 1:1 basis for 2 hours! This type of personalised plan for you to follow comes at an incredibly reasonable price, designed to allow anyone to have access to the guidance needed to help make your home extension project a success.

For over 5 years now I have been helping people inside my own Facebook group, and inside other peoples' groups, and I absolutely love it!
But I see a need which goes beyond a free Facebook group.
I see a need for low cost, quick access to a range of services to assist homeowners like you with your extension projects by providing clear advice on any aspect of your project.
Too often I see people trying to go it alone to save money, however, in doing so it often ends up costing them more to put right mistakes that are made along the way, and the process definitely becomes more stressful than it needs to be.
I also see people asking questions inside Facebook groups and getting so many conflicting, and often incorrect, answers that they end up more confused than before they asked. This doesn't have to be the case.
These mistakes & this stress can be avoided with the right guidance & support.
That is why I have created the D.R.E.A.M UK Home Extension Support Hour - so you can get support with your project, including what you need to do & who you need to hire and when, what approvals you need, what documents you need to submit for your specific project - there are many things which might be required but every project is different.
Not submitting the correct documents can mean your project can be delayed for months whilst you wait for those documents to be able to be prepared (such as bat surveys, some of which can only take place during certain months of the year)
Plus design support to help make the most out of your home, and to help ensure it meets current building regulations.
All this without fear of judgement, and without breaking the bank, leaving you with more money to invest in the actual build than if you hire, for example, an architect in the traditional manner.
Architecture is for everyone, regardless of budget!
